Founded in 1981, Circle Theatre presents a year-round season of musicals, comedies, and dramas to adult theatre patrons in North Texas. The Theatre has been listed on every critic's top ten lists throughout the years and has been selected as Best Theatre in Fort Worth by local magazines and newspapers. Circle focuses on new plays and encourages emerging directors, designers and actors, by offering them an opportunity to show their work. Five main stage productions are produced each year.

The Theatre derives its name from its original location on Bluebonnet Circle, near Texas Christian University, in Fort Worth, Texas. In 1987, the Theatre made an interim move to Fort Worth's "historic south side," at the request of civic leaders wishing to encourage a better quality of life in that neighborhood. Circle Theatre later moved into the basement space of the historic Sanger Building in Sundance Square, in March 1994. This relocation was in response to an invitation to participate in the development of an entertainment district in downtown Fort Worth.

Patrons enjoy Circle's comfortably intimate atmosphere and often comment on the added benefit of being close to the action on stage. The auditorium seats 125 audience members - arena style - around an open thrust stage. A 1200 square foot lobby provides ample space for restrooms, a box office, and concessions area. Area restaurants, hotels and retail stores, surround the Theatre. Free garage parking or complimentary valet parking is available for the Theatre's patrons.
