Celebrating the People, Productions, and Communities That Make Regional Theater Thrive
BroadwayandMain.com is a national resource dedicated to America's professional regional theater community. Through original journalism, exclusive backstage interviews, production histories, and one of the nation's growing databases of regional theater artists, the site celebrates the remarkable work taking place on stages across the United States.
Our Story
Broadway and Main began in 2009 as a featured segment on Verizon FiOS1 News' award-winning news magazine, My Long Island TV.
The concept was simple but different.
Rather than reviewing or criticizing productions, our cameras went behind the scenes to capture the excitement, passion, and creativity of the artists bringing each show to life. By introducing audiences to the cast and creative team and sharing preview clips from productions, viewers could experience the energy of the performance and decide for themselves whether they wanted to attend.
The approach resonated with audiences.
As the theater coverage continued to grow in popularity, it became clear that the stories being told extended far beyond Long Island. In 2012, BroadwayandMain.com was launched as an independent website with a broader mission: to spotlight professional Equity regional theaters throughout the United States.
More Than Entertainment
Regional theaters are far more than places to see a great show.
They serve as economic engines for their communities, attracting thousands of patrons to downtown districts every week. Restaurants, hotels, coffee shops, boutiques, parking facilities, and countless other local businesses benefit from the audiences that theaters bring into their neighborhoods.
BroadwayandMain.com believes that the performing arts are an essential part of healthy communities. By telling the stories behind the productions, the artists, and the theaters themselves, we hope to strengthen appreciation for the important role regional theater plays in local economies across America.

Building a National Theater Archive
One of BroadwayandMain.com's long-term goals is to preserve the history of regional theater.
Every season, thousands of talented artists appear in productions that may never be documented beyond a local playbill. By creating an ever-growing database of productions, casts, creative teams, and theaters, BroadwayandMain.com is working to preserve those accomplishments for future generations.
As our database continues to expand, it is becoming a valuable resource for theater fans, educators, journalists, producers, casting professionals, and the artists themselves.
Original Journalism
BroadwayandMain.com is committed to producing original reporting that celebrates achievement within the performing arts.
Our coverage focuses on the people behind the productions—the actors, directors, designers, technicians, administrators, and volunteers whose passion keeps regional theater vibrant in communities across America.
Rather than focusing on criticism, we strive to inform, inspire, and introduce audiences to remarkable productions they might otherwise never discover.
