On September 11, 2001, after U.S. airspace abruptly closed, 38 planes carrying nearly 7,000 passengers from around the globe were diverted to a remote town in Gander, Newfoundland. Overnight, a community of just under 10,000 people had to decide what it meant to welcome the world, exhausted, frightened, and far from home.

The honor recognizes BroadwayandMain's commitment to telling the human stories behind the curtain—stories that reveal not only what happens on stage, but how the theater shapes lives, careers, and families across generations.
The award-winning feature followed the remarkable story of Robert Gallagher and Marie Danvers, two performers whose lives changed when they met on stage. What began as a theatrical partnership evolved into a lifelong marriage and a distinguished career in the performing arts.
Their story came full circle when their daughter, Karina Gallagher, recently completed her first professional theatrical engagement alongside her father. For BroadwayandMain, the moment represented something larger than a casting announcement or production review. It was a living example of how the theater community passes knowledge, passion, and tradition from one generation to the next.
"Married on Broadway" resonated with audiences because it explored a side of theater that often goes unseen. Beyond the applause, standing ovations, and opening nights are families whose lives have been shaped by a shared devotion to the stage.

In the case of Robert Gallagher, Marie Danvers, and Karina Gallagher, that legacy is still being written.
